Pictures from the Rendezvous

Spring Rendezvous (Mother's Day Weekend 2008)

Two cute pioneer girls or two cute modern girls pretending to be pioneer girls. They loved the candy cannon, the dogs around the camp, and all the fun things to look at. Not so happy about the pit-style potties, and all the things to not touch (camp-fire, cooking pots, etc). Bobbie liked the 8 AM 5-cannon wake-up call. Dahlia didn't like it, but it was VERY effective in getting her up and out of bed!! They had fun playing the games at the next camp over. It was run by volunteers for Freemont Indian State Park. Dahlia made some rubbings, and tried to master a fire starting drill. She couldn't quite get the hang of letting the momentum pull your hand back up, so it didn't work so well for her. There was also another camp that had kids games, and the girls had fun tossing woven hoops into squares on the ground.
Playing Hide-N-Seek, is kind of hard when the 'hiders' go somewhere a little too obvious!! The girls had lots of fun checking out everything around us. Dahlia wandered a little farther then I would have liked but she was in sight all the time, so I guess I couldn't complain too much. Especially since the whole camp wasn't that long, and tons of people knew who she belonged to.

Our little pioneer family. One of the few times that the girls were actually holding still long enough for a picture. We had a great time, and are so happy that Mom and Dad invited us to join them. It was fun to dress up and play pretend. I am very glad though that it was just pretend. I can't imagine living that way all of my life. I suppose since I wouldn't know any thing else existed it would be okay. The girls loved the being dirty part, but I am pretty sure that they enjoyed their bath almost as much.
